The Doran Lab

STUDYING THE IMMUNOBIOLOGY OF ATHEROSCLEROSIS AND INFLAMMATION RESOLUTION.

Our lab is interested in the immunologic and molecular mechanisms underlying atherosclerotic and cardiometabolic disease. In particular, we are interested in the reasons why the chronic inflammation underlying these diseases fails to resolve. We utilize both in vitro and in vivo models to study various aspects of both physiologic and pathologic “inflammation resolution”. Importantly, we prioritize human translational discoveries, and so each project also incorporates the use of human tissues and cells.

We are a part of several outstanding groups on campus, including the Vanderbilt Institute for Infection, Immunology, and Inflammation (VI4), the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, and the Division of Cardiology.
